Classes & Workshops

At Ringling College

MIXED MEDIA/Discover Collage

8 Sessions /Thursday evenings, 6:30 – 9 pm, Oct. 2 – Nov. 20

Collage, a familiar and deceptively simple medium, is all about shape tearing, cutting, fitting, placing and layering. If you think collage begins and ends there, think again. Collage is also a medium that connects and enhances other art forms. In conjunction with watercolor, acrylic, pastel, oil and encaustic, collage can add interest and substance to paintings. Come prepared to stretch your imagination, explore new directions and recharge your creative batteries. This workshop is suitable for artists of all levels.

Floor Cloth Workshop

(includes prepared floor cloth)

Sunday, 9:30 am – 3:30 pm, Nov. 2

Discover your creative self in this popular workshop.

Floor cloths are hand painted works of art for the floor, and when finished and sealed, become hard wearing, colorful alternatives to carpets that look spectacular whether on a hard wood floor or a gallery wall. This class presents various paints and materials as well as their applications. Learn how to hem, turn under, and finish your own floor cloth to enjoy for years to come.

Digital Photography Basics

8 sessions / Wednesday evenings, 6:30 – 9 pm, Oct. 1 – Nov. 19

Take good photographs with your digital camera.

This course will help you understand the features of your digital camera and when to use them. Learn how to save, move and email your images. In addition, the class covers composition, lighting, aperture and shutter speeds.
